Linda, I have not had a chance to download the KTLA segment yet. Our server was down and it's nothing that can be fixed in a hurry so I enjoyed watching the Kimmel downloads over and over and over again.
What can I say? Clay Aiken is amazing and there's nobody equal "on all fours".
John and his group are focusing on the gay/straight question as a result of the LKL interview.
He HAS answered that question numerous times, and stated so again tonight, and he has done interviews about who his ideal wife would be etc. He has had people such as Kelly Clarkson answer the question. Suffice it to say, the list is lengthy.
What he DID say AGAIN tonight is that the tabloids are not true.
Those are two separate issues that somehow get co-mingled over on that other blog.
Clay drew the line and he meant it. Good for him, and he means it. He is taking back his life, and I applaud him for that. He also addressed the tabloids on KTLA.
Breaking it down:
1. The tabloids are about him being gay,
2. The tabloids are about John's story and variations thereof.
3. He said the tabloids are untrue.
Therefore, if the tabloids are untrue, then the only conclusions can be:
1. above is untrue
2. above is untrue
3. He is straight and John's story is a lie, as well as all the other variations therof.
p.s. I addressed him as John because I will give him back his name. I will also give him back his blog because there is no need for me ever being there again. I will be on Clay's sites supporting him and following his lead.

Linda, I heard Clay picked up a November date for his Christmas tour so the season is not that far away.

I saw a very mature Clay Aiken on Larry King Live and KTLA; we need to grow with him. This chapter for me is nearing completion, and like Clay learning from each experience, so have I.
Maybe we all need to push back and go do some volunteer work, or whatever floats your boat.

SoundScan Info To Be "Reprocessed"

Before you dive into this week's Billboard sales chart based on SoundScan sales numbers, keep in mind that it was likely released without information from retail giant Best Buy. Yesterday (9/26), SoundScan alerted all paid subscribers via email that the numbers for the week may be inaccurate and that they will "extrapolate" for the missing sales data. The company also warned clients to be "advised that there may be anomalies in the data for the week ending 9/24/06."
SoundScan did not indicate what retail information was missing, but two record companies indicated to FMQB that data seems to show Best Buy's sales data was not included. SoundScan would not confirm this with either company.
Late on Wednesday (9/27), SoundScan issued a statement to its clients stating, "To the extent that the census data from the data supplier in the chain strata which was unable to report becomes available, we currently estimate that Nielsen SoundScan will be reprocessed to reflect the actual point-of-sale data after 6pm ET, Friday 9/29/06."
One company explained the missing data to its staff like this: "Soundscan weighted the other retailers in each market to estimate market sales for the week. Don't 'add in' additional sales. There will be aberrations based on some titles that Best Buy may do better with but the totals have been supplemented already. SoundScan will repost everything if Best Buy can get their data in a timely fashion. Since Best Buy ran sales on most of the new titles, debuts could be smaller than actual size."
In a press release, Megaforce Records questioned why it is paying $26,000 a year to receive sales numbers from SoundScan, stating: "Shouldn't it be SoundScan's job to report the actual sales numbers, not a guessing game?" Megaforce is concerned over a debut by Mushroomhead on the SoundScan chart that shows only 12,183 units sold when another sales tracking company had them selling closer to 26,000.
Just my two cents - I think keeping track of EVERYTHING for Uncle Jess is a wonderful thing to do and should not EVER stop. 'Cause the swampthings are never going to stop being bottom dwellers/attention seekers.

Please go read the thread and you'll understand. We all have inadvertently done and said things we shouldn't have. We are not alone on the Internet and things we may have done in earnest, may have been used against Clay. We must watch what we say.
For example, we looked forward to Clay's blogs, but we know everyone was taken from the OFC and posted on the haters blog. Whom does that hurt? If Clay now no longer wishes to share with us some of his private life because of it, because it's twisted and used against him, then it hurts all of us. Therefore I feel it's very important for us to work together to rectify this problem.
The thread at OFC discusses this situation from many angles and we'll have to wait to see how serious it is and take our lead from Clay. But the man has had all he can take! That's rather obvious to me. We all know how straight-laced he has been raised. Can you imagine the emotion and some of his reactions in reading some of the "stuff" that's out there? What if it was you or me? I would be continuously crying. Let Clay have the opportunity to take his life back. I want him to be happy and I know you do, too!

#1. What has happened is not just bullying; it was criminal cyber bullying and Internet Terrorism on us and Slander/Libel against Clay. Not Dr. Phil's expertise. That's for authorities to handle, in my opinion.

WRU, I heard that somebody couldn't get thru with their soundscan numbers but didn't know who. Thanks for the info. Best Buy is a pretty big outlet where a lot of Clay CDs were purchased. Hope the numbers were underestimated and will show a larger volume for Clay. Of course, there's always the possibility that the estimate was pretty close.
Wow - so I'm reading all of this, but there are a lot of different things going on here.
First - Polly, I have not read the thread on OFC, but using the Clay blogging thing as an example doesn't make a lot of sense to me. I think we all know that a few haters have paid for their memberships and will report on those blogs, what we post, etc, no matter what.
Second - I automatically ignore any plea to email anyone about Clay. Doesn't matter if it's to a tabloid, radio station, whatever... It's just not me and I won't do it.
Next - I have no idea who Clay's lawyers are or how to get in touch with them, but I always assumed that someone was watching all of this and weighing the options.
Last, but really... most importantly... Clay said more than once that the tabloids were lying. He even said why he wasn't suing them - because it would give those people more attention. He wasn't going to pander to them or baited into a fight.
All of that said - I don't see anything wrong with this blog and discussing what is going on. It's going to continue to go on with or without our comments here.

I would like to clarify something. I absolutely believe we have had a huge impact and people like Oh Crap and others who have put up blogs for people to read the truth and counter and other false claims. It was a long 9 months, but now that Clay is back and talking about it, we need to listen.
I would hate for any of these blogs that have spelled out the truth, such as the list of 15 statements to ever go away, even if they were there for viewing and no comments allowed. Why? Because there are new fans coming on board. And, even within the fandom some haven't read here. As long as blogs like pickle's are out there, we need to remain vigilant, but not as proactive. Perfect name Clay's Equalizers. While I would have been lost without this group to hang with during this difficult 9 months, e-mailing campaigns are in poor taste.
Basically, I think many of us were afraid of losing Clay again (memories of AI2). I think it is clear he is here to stay. I would like to return to those fun times again, but with some changes.

Here's my summary. The swamp, PH, the OC and the tinnies are losing a grip on all their lies and it's showing to the public now. It used to be that one would lie and another would swear to it. Now they're each adding their own lies in the tabloids and negating each other lies.
uh...so what happens next when Clay shows up somewhere with a female friend??? Lightening going to strike...or what?? I wish lightening would strike the swamp.

And the tinnies, and PH and the OC. In particular, I would like to see the OC wiped off the internet as I find their particular brand of slander (thinly described as some kind of bizarre fandom) is much worse than the others. Why? Because the other's hate drips off their words so much that no one in their right mind would believe them. The OC, because of their "supposed" support of Clay makes them more evil and insidious. Really, simply an embarrassment that grown women would act that way.

I went over to OC right after GMA - had never been there before and I was kind of curious. As I was reading along I was agreeing with the poster....ok, that makes sense, ok I agree with that....then all of a sudden I come across a line that says (paraphrasing) "of course, GMA edited the piece and cut out the part where Clay came out". I was struck dumb at first. Huh??? Do these people really believe this stuff? After I read a little further I wasn't sure if I should just laugh or worry about running into these people in RL.
Very eye opening.

On Oct. 15, students in Craig Wirth's public relations class was so lucky as to have Alan Butterfield grace them with his presence. Butterfield was invited to provide a "Hollywood publicist" inside perspective to the class.
For those unfamiliar, Butterfield is a reporter for the National Enquirer-yes, the supermarket tabloid-and is the one who "broke" the gay sex-ring story about Ed Smart and several of his brothers. The story was based on information obtained from unnamed sources. Later it became known that some unnamed sources were paid $10,000 each. In the end, the information proved to be false and two reporters, Kevin Cantera and Michael Vigh of The Salt Lake Tribune, were fired due to their involvement in the fiasco.
Several professors in the department of communication were angered by Butterfield's visit, and rightly so.
There is no question as to the fundamental importance that freedom of thought and freedom of the press have. These liberties are basic tenets of our nation. Indeed, the United States relies heavily on the marketplace of ideas that results from the exercise of such liberties.
However, it is important that such liberties be placed into context and not be applied recklessly. The liberties afforded citizens in the Constitution are not given with an accompanying free license of application. Unfortunately, that seems to be the assumption made by Butterfield and many of his supporters.
Allowing Alan Butterfield to speak to a public relations class, and justifying such in the name of intellectual freedom, is analogous to The Wall Street Journal printing neo-Nazi manifestos in the name of freedom of the press. Just as The Wall Street Journal has a responsibility to print news and not destructive or inflammatory rhetoric, institutions of higher learning have the responsibility to teach students in a nondestructive manner.
Obviously, drawing the lines between what is and what is not destructive is an exercise in subjectivity, to say the least. Yet it does not seem appropriate to bring in a guest speaker who makes a living telling lies and exploiting people. The world of journalism needs to be built on integrity, not sensationalism.
Yes, tabloid journalism is part of the American journalistic landscape. But so are racism, sexism, classism and other deplorable ideologies. Needless to say, Larry Flynt will not be asked to speak to photography students, so why should Alan Butterfield speak to communication students?

It's interesting that even Alan Butterfield admits:
"Aiken, 27, has repeatedly denied that he's gay."
Isn't that what Clay has said? Alan Butterfield knows it, yet, you all continue to deny it.
And Clay has addressed the rumors. Not only in People Magazine, but to Diane Sawyer.
Diane asked, "But what about that prurient (prurient: characterized by lascivious or lustful thoughts; restless desire or longing; inordinate interest in sex) stuff on the Internet purporting to be from Aiken? He says it's not true, but he won't give it more publicity by commenting further, even though it is crushing for his family. Clay said, "Even though stuff about me that I read in the magazines isn't true...it still...makes me...lose sleep and it still makes me...I hurt...I hurt not just for my mother who has to watch it happen and who hurts for me... ...I don't know why? ...I don't understand why people are...offensive... in that way...I don't get it."
So all of you haters continue to make other people hurt. That is such a lousy thing to do to others; you are Godless and have no soul because the love of God is not in you.
And John? Well, it's hard for me to feel sorry for John, since the true victim in this scenario claims it's all lies...sorry.

It looks to me like someone is trying to bait Clay. He fought back on the jh lawsuit saying they went after his family. So now the NE trys the same tatic. Go after his mom.
Too bad Clay already said that those who know him know the tabloids make stuff up and are not true.
This article calls into question the prior article's statement, quoted by stalkerboy, that Clay had already come out to his mother and close friends early in 2005.
I love it when one liar outs another liar.
PS. The first article was in January. Guess Butterfield forgot about that one.
LOL...no wonder Butterfield & NE removed the January article. He probably didn't think anyone would catch him in his own lies and expose JPs.

"Clay told me that he just came out of the closet to his mother and a few close friends last year. He said she wasn't too happy. He told me he was single again, having broken up with his boyfriend about five months ago."
The 5 months is to point attention to John D., who didn't accompany Clay on the JBT. It never has been explained how or why he ended up on the JNT.
Today, Butty explained that Clay had just broken up with his boyfriend and that's why he told his mother in March. He was so upset and he tells her everything. All I have to say is March was sure one busy month in 05. Brett left for Iraq, Clay returned from a trip and learned his CD was postponed for a year and he decided to move back to Raleigh and Faye hung the curtains! Hahaha!!
Paulass is cruel horrible little piece of crap, going after Clay's mom like that is despicable.
